Good for small households, dorm rooms

Pros Small footprint, makes 1-2 cups coffee, comes w/2 thermal cups with lids.
Cons Not recommended for high-coffee-consumption households.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Good for low-consumption households; can be purchased inexpensively.
I found this coffee maker on sale for $12 earlier this year. Since I'm the only one in the household who drinks coffee, and I generally take my coffee with me when I leave the house, I appreciated having two thermal cups to add to my collection. I also liked the permanent filters, which you empty and wash out each day.

I've had no trouble with functionality from this machine, which has been used virtually every day since March. The unit is rather tall, but has a small footprint, so it would be good for private use by one or two people in an office or dorm room.

Pros:
Permanent filters eliminate the need for paper filters, thus saving money and waste.

Comes with two thermal cups w/lids.

There is no bottom heating element, so you don't have to worry about forgotten coffee burning and stinking up the house. Water is heated and dispensed through the top of the unit into the cup(s) below.

Makes one or two cups of coffee at a time, which is ideal for households or other places where coffee consumption is low.

Works quickly.

Cons:

The permanent filters do allow some coffee ground sludge to filter into your cup.

The thermal cups are described as dishwasher safe, but I find that even on the top rack, water collects between the inner lining and the outer aluminum shell. This necessitates putting the cups bottom-down in a dish drainer for a while after removing them from the dishwasher so that the water can drip out. Otherwise, they'll seep water in your cabinets. (Ask me how I know this.)

Following the mfg recommendations on how much coffee per cup to use results is pathetically weak swill good only for perking up one's azaleas. Experiment with the proportions until you have coffee to suit your tastes.

This unit does not keep coffee warm.

This unit would not be appropriate for a household where coffee consumption is heavy.

Given what I paid for this machine and the functionality I've seen thus far, I'm quite pleased. It suits my needs perfectly.

If Black & Decker asked me how to improve this machine, I'd recommend adding an automatic turn-off so that if you forget to flip the switch as you're dashing out the door, the unit does not remain on all day. I'd also recommend a timer, and that the cup design be improved.
