Why are they still allowed to sell this fire hazard?
You can imagine my horror when I unlocked my door and the Black & Decker 5 speed ProBlend blender was running full power with no one home! It will not turn off. Not very satisfied
I find this blender too loud. For the price I paid I am not happy with the quality of the product or the service. After 5 days of owning this blender my the glass jar slipped out of my husbands hands while doing the dishes and landed back in the sink and the handle broke off the jar. I called the... Start by itself problem here too
After a year or so, this blender is having the "starts up by itself" problem. All solid state, so it's not fixable without replacing the electronics. A waste of money, not to mention an incredible fire hazard the first time the problem happens (ours is unplugged). Read full review »

I also am disappointed with my B&D ProBlend 5000. In fact, this blender has been recalled because the blades break -- which seems to be a common problem, judging from other reviews. (see details at

Blade snapped right off!
We received this blender a gift (mainly for making smoothies) and liked it for the sleek modern look. But that is where it ends. One of the blades snapped right off after 1.5 months of use. Not Recommended
Nice design but the blade broke ( had a broken blade in my drink) in less that 30 days making a fruit smoothie. Got no response from the black and decker warrenty web site. Read full review »
Never again!
I received this as a gift. I probably would not have bought it myself, and I certainly do not recommend it to anyone. It's louder than any other blender I've ever encountered. Don't buy it
This blender looked very appealing to me for its design and for the robustness I thought it had. The jar is glass, not plastic, it has a heavy base, looks very stylish and I thought: well it's Black & Decker, it will work just fine. Dangerous Product! Turns on by itself!!!
We got this Blender less than a year ago. At first it worked great, we mainly use it for smoothies and crushing ice. It burned in less than 3months
We purchased a BL5000 three months ago. The machine worked as a charm for the first month, and the second. On the las month the machine would turned by its own. The first time it happen in the middle of the night, at three o'clock in the morning. It scared the hell out of me and my parrot.
