burn hazard and now dead after one year
Pros
powerful motor worked well for smoothies for one year before it died
Cons
dead in a year, scalds you with hot soup, loud, heavy
Recommended it?
No
*Update* I made frozen drinks tonight and when I tried to turn the crush ice option on again absolutely nothing happened. Totally kaput. A year old and dead as a doornail. What a piece of junk. I will never buy a Black and Decker kitchen appliance again.
I primarily used this for smoothies and it worked fine for nearly a year (thank goodness now that I read the other reviews) but I used it for pureeing soup the other day. The powerful motor produced such force blending the soup that the flexible lid blew right off despite my hand holding it down and splattered hot soup all over me, my bare arm and my kitchen. This led to minor burns on my arm, nothing serious fortunately and a big mess. I did report it to the Consumer Protection people and black and decker.
