I have always owned a Mr. Coffee. The last one I had was a nightmare. Since we just remodelled our kitchen we decided it was time to get a new coffeemaker as well. Our new kitchen is spacious and I wanted to keep it that way so we decided to try a Black & Decker spacemaker coffeepot.
Best decision we ever made! My husband hooked it under our new cabinets and it looks as if it were made just to go there! Our coffeemaker is all white, including the basket, and that goes perfectly with the rest of our appliances.
We did look at Bunn and Proctor Silex, etc., but we really wanted the extra counter room back and this one just serves that purpose perfectly. We have the 12 cup version and it perks very quickly, in our house of coffee drinkers that is a definite asset in a coffeemaker.
It has an automatic setting so you can wake up to fresh coffee...enough to wake anyone up! We also found out after using it only a few times that this coffeemaker has an added safety feature we were unaware of. It shuts itself off! I really am not sure how long after it stops perking, but it never lets your coffee get that 'strong' yucky taste that it will get if you forget to turn your pot off. That is an added bonus to us. I like the removable water reservoir instead of using the coffeepot. We put the basket and pot in dishwasher and they clean up like a dream. The reservoir is NOT dishwasher safe, but since it only ever gets water in it anyway that is not a big problem.
The only problem we had with it was the original glass pot broke when the lid fell in it when my husband was using it. We went to Walmart and bought another one. But that can happen with any coffee pot. lol
We have had this now for a couple of months and if we ever have trouble with it we will most likely purchase a new one.
