Excellent value for a great coffee maker

The Bottom Line:
Great design and excellent value - highly recommended!
After our previous Black and Decker under-the-counter coffee maker started leaking around the reservoir seal, we knew it was time for a new one. It had served us faithfully for many years and brewed excellent coffee so we decided to try another Black and Decker.
We purchased the counter-top DCM2700 (the Deluxe model) which features the adjustable warmer temperature control, programmable timer and length of warming time adjustment. We didn't opt for an under-counter model because of limited under-cabinet space and potential future leak issues. The quality of construction of the DCM2700 is about typical for most coffee makers with an excellent style that is very modern, yet not too "technical" looking.
The brew time is excellent. My other machine took almost twice as long to brew (but that could be due to its age and hard water corrosion). A neat plus is the way the carafe is marked with actual "cups" and "coffee cups". We all know that 1 cup (as indicated on a typical coffee maker) is not really a full coffee cup. The markings on the carafe show levels for both - side by side.
The nice feature about this coffee maker is the adjustable warmer control. You can choose from 1 of 7 settings from warm to very hot. This is great if you leave your coffee on the warmer for an extended period of time (less evaporation). It's also good for those who may not like their coffee as hot as others might (or hotter).
The timer clock is composed of red LED style lights and the controls are all the "membrane" plastic covered type which should last many years and should be easy to clean. Some models come with a water filter and/or a gold-toned permanent coffee filter, but mine didn't.
Finally, the other thing I noticed is the way the coffee filter basket is the only part of the machine that should get dirty because it's one piece. Coffee doesn't touch any other part of the machine than the filter basket - which is removable. This plus along with all the other features makes this machine a very good choice in my book.
