Like buying a little slice of peace of mind pie
Pros
Gets out most stains fairly easily, portable and easy to use
Cons
Battery life lacking; tends to leak for a bit after use.

Yes
Not long ago we rented an apartment that has brand new carpet. I moved in with my same ole messy husband, toddler daughter and 2 cats; one of whom deposits hairballs on this brand new carpet quite regularly. I had been eyeballing the spot lifter for a few weeks when I noticed my neighbor had one and when asked about it she told me she really liked hers..... so I took a chance and bought it, and let me tell ya, despite a few things I would like to see changed (and would not hesitate to buy an updated version in a few years...hint, hint, Bissell people) I am really happy with it.
Today a dollop of RED nail polish dribbled onto the floor. Was I worried? No!( well, ok, just a little bit, but I was pretty sure the spot lifter could perform the magic needed) I immediately broke out the handy machine and sprayed the stain and sucked it out. Yes it took about 4 tries, and a little elbow grease with the brush ( that is included), but that nail polish is gone, COMPLETELY gone!
The Spot Lifter comes with a small bottle of cleaning solution that you pour into a reservoir along with a bit of water. There is a trigger built into the underside of the handle and when you pull it, the solution is sprayed through a nozzle. You should let this set for a few minutes and if it looks like a stubborn stain use the brush and work the solution in real good, then suck it on out of there. Most things will come out the first time, especially if they are new spots, but don't give up~ sometimes it takes a few tries.
I will share a couple of things that I have found.....yes , it is cheating, but with all the messes around here I need to make good use of the 5-10 minutes of cleaning time I can get out of the battery. First, I have found that if you spray the stain with Resolve or another carpet cleaner and only fill the reservoir with water it works just as well. This way you are not wasting precious stain sucking time on hosing down the spot with solution, and you don't have to pay the $9.00 to buy the refill. Second, I take the brush attachment off and use it by hand to work the cleaner into the spot better and right as I'm about to vacuum the stuff up I squirt the water onto it, to make it more juicy, it seems to clean better for me that way.
Unfortunately, I have had a few problems with it leaking after I hang it up on the wall mount, so I suggest you put a mat under it, or don't hang it over a carpeted area. Also the spray nozzle is supposedly adjustable, but I cant tell any difference no matter which way I turn the thing. One more reason I spray from a separate spray bottle.
All in all I think it is a great product! I am no longer overprotective of the carpet, I will let my daughter drink milk in her playroom without standing guard over her, so we are both more relaxed. It is quicker and less messy than scrubbing stains out with a carpet cleaner alone, and heck, it is almost fun to use.
