Great carpet cleaner with some quirks

Pros Cleans medium height carpet and rugs very well and quickly.
Cons Is heavy and brush is prone to break down unless carpet is prepped beforehand.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  It works as advertised. Just follow instructions carefully until you are familiar with it.
I bought the Bissell ProHeatâ„¢ Protech? 7920 at Costco, hoping it would work sufficiently well to avoid renting a cleaner or calling a pro.

We have three pets, a Scottie and two shorthaired cats, and raising the Scottie from a pup produced the usual mistakes on his part. While we cleaned up his mistakes promptly, after awhile it becomes apparent that hand scrubbing doesn't always do the best job. I can say, unequivocally, that the Bissell did a great job of getting the carpets back in shape.

One thing I've noticed some people have mis-interpreted, and that is the function of the water heater. The built in heater only warms the water 25 degrees hotter than what it is when you put water in the tank. So, it should go without saying that you should fill the tank with the hottest water you can get out of the tap.

The tank, which has a rather ingenious top, allows you to remove and carry the tank, empty or full, using a large handle. You do have to be careful and keep the tank fairly level, but I have yet to have an accidental slosh or spill.
The tank is composed of an inner collapsible liner, that holds the clean water. The outer portion of the tank that surrounds this baglike tank, receives the dirty water you vacuum up.

There are three cleaning levels: 1.Water rinse, 2.Floor cleaning, and 3.High Traffic and the cleaning solution is mixed with the water at a pre-determined rate based on the setting you choose.

There are some weak areas, such as the brush gear and belt will wear out very quickly if you don't vacuum thoroughly prior to using the ProHeat. Fortunately, Bissell allows local authorized vacuum dealers to replace these parts under warranty, or they'll ship you replacement parts speedily.

A word to the wise; if you have pets that shed, get a really good upright brush vacuum cleaner to use prior to using the ProHeat.

Ultimately, this cleaner does what it claims to do. We've had it for 2 years now, and as long as you vacuum well, this cleaner will serve you very well.

NOTE: I've seen the 48 oz Multi-Allergen cleaner being sold for as much as $90.00!!
You can get this larger bottle for under $20.00 at Costco!!
