Exercise and Clean Carpets

Pros Cleans carpets well, heated water.
Cons Weight, small tank capacity, leaves behind lint.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If you want clean carpets, this is a good machine to try. Definitly recommended
My wife and I were looking for a good carpet cleaner after spending about $100 on a professional cleaning. We had tried a hoover that my mother had, which I found to be small hassle due to the water container. It was somewhat cumbersome to replace when you needed fresh water.

My friend had a Bissel Pro Heat, the previous version of the one I purchased. It had the rotary vacuum style brush, which I perfer over the circular brushes of the Hoover. I found it somewhat heavy, but in general it was a good product. We finally purchased one right after Christmas '05.

The first thing I noticed even before I got it home was the weight, which wasn't a surprise. It was an easy assembly, and I was ready to do my muddy entry way as a trial to see how it did. As muddy as the carpet was,I expect at least three tries to get the mud out. It only took two, so I was pleasently surprised. The attachments work as advertised, although nothing earth shattering about them.

One big gripe I have surfaced as I started on the rest of the carpet, and is still persisting. This is a lint machine as well. Doing the carpets can be a two person job, with the second person picking up the lint as you make a pass. Make sure you clean it real good when you finish, or it'll seem worse the next time you clean. If you have more than one level to clean, as I do, carrying this up and down stairs can be a chore in and of itself. You can get a work out carrying this up and down stairs.

As far as it's ability to clean the carpet, it is really good. It's rotary brushes get some of the ground in dirt with little effort. It has two clean settings, normal and heavy, as well as a rinse setting. The heavy setting chews through the cleaner solution, though. Normal is good for most cleanings, and I would only recommend heavy for heavily stained sections of the carpet. These settings also work on the attachments as well, from my expierence.

Emptying the water tank is simple. Simply unlatch the tank take the top piece off, and it's done. Larger rooms will require you to do this several times, as it only holds a gallon of water, which doesn't last long. I also like the one tank design.

The heater works as advertised. It also heats the water for the attachments, which is an added bonus.

All in all, a good carpet cleaner. If you can get past the lint issue, small tank capacity, and the weight of the machine, it is a well priced cleaner that does what it's supposed to do.
