The Bottom Line:
The Bottom Line Easy to clean, no hard messy filters that need brushing off and outstanding cleaning ability. Quality made product.
OPINION: The Model 3591 is an excellent choice among vacuum cleaners in the below $125 price range.
FEATURES: This model has the following additional features that the 3590/8990 do not have according to the manual. It has a Clear View window over the power brush that shows dirt flow and strings or hair that might wrap around the brush. This model also has a power track feature that has brushes right up to the end of the power brush that allows for better edge cleaning. This model also has a soft bumper guard to protect furniture. This is a bagless vacuum and the dirt container is very very easy to empty. There are 7 height adjustments that give the brush a nice range from bare floors to shag. This model has a 12Amp motor that is actually not very loud.
There is a 25 foot power cord that has a quick release feature that allows for easy removal of the entire cord without having to unwrap it. There is a quick reach handle on the back that has an upgraded heavy duty hose the other models don't have. This comes with a dusting brush tool, crevice tool and an extension wand that are securely attached to the back and do not fall off. This model also has a Hepa filter on the other models it is called a post motor filter.
ADDITIONAL INFO: Besides the Hepa filter there is an Upper Tank Filter and a Pre-Motor Filter that protects the motor from dirt. These filters are very easy to remove for cleaning, and together do an outstanding job filtering the air.
CONS: The only cons I can mention are the filters. The 2 filters, The Upper Tank Filter & Pre-Motor Filter are soft foam filters that need cleaning frequently. Per Manual these filters should be cleaned or replaced every 3 months or more frequent depending on conditions. I clean mine after each time I empty the dirt collector and they are filthy, actually the Pre-Motor filter is only dusty. They are very easy to access and being of soft foam I clean mine with water, squeeze dry and are ready for use next time I want to use the vacuum. The cost of these filters from Bissell, Upper-Tank Filter $3.99
Pre-Motor Filter $1.50, HEPA Filter $9.99.
The other thing that I am not happy with is the placement of the on/off switch, it is down the left side of the machine, not convenient.
FINAL REMARKS: This vacuum cleaner cleans better then my old Electrolux does by far, at a fraction of the price. I chose this model for a couple of reasons, no bag and easy to clean, price, Bissell name. I have had bagless vacuum cleaners in the past and they all seem to have this teflon coated filter in the dust collector that is a mess to clean and if you don't clean it the performance goes down. The Bissell does not have any filter like that and the 2 it does have besides the HEPA are easy to clean and don't make a mess like those hard white type filters you will see on some of the more expensive models out there. For the heck of it I vacuumed using my old Electrolux upright, then I went back over with the Bissell, I could not believe what the other vacuum left behind, I would not believe it unless I seen it. We got this vacuum on sale at Kohls $119 from $159, well worth every penny.
For about $30 less you can get the 3590/8990 however I believe the additional features on the 3591 are worth the extra money.
I gave it 4 stars because of the cons, 5 stars would be no cons in my opinion.
