The Bottom Line:
I would strongly advise people to avoid this product if you have pets especially long-haired dogs. You will spend all your time cleaning the brushes and not get anything done.
I was quite surprised to see that most epinions members seemed to rate this vacuum as quite good because in my experience the opposite has been true. For some people, this vacuum may be adequate, but for me it's not.
I purchased this vacuum after our old one died. That particular vacuum was awesome, but unfortunately they are no longer making it so thus began the drudgery of finding a new one to replace it.
I began by checking various epinions on different vacuums and consumer reports guides to get an idea of what was on the market. Usually I have pretty good success with what I purchase after checking on epinions first. Unfortunately, this was NOT the case.
In our household, there are 3 large long-haired bearded collies. For those of you who have long-haired dogs, then you know what its like for one or maybe 2 of them to shed everywhere, all the time. The main purpose of getting a vacuum with strong suction was that it would help keep the dog hair under control. However, that is not what happened.
With 3 dogs it is necessary to vacuum everyday because of the shedding or it gets really out of control. Normally I don't mind vacuuming the carpets and floors. With this latest purchase, I have noticed that while it does pick up a large amount of dirt and hair, it leaves quite a bit left on the floor. My biggest complaint with the vacuum is that everytime I vacuum the carpet in any room, it becomes necessary to clean the brushes or the motor will burn out. I vacuum the first room. Next, I have to proceed to clean out the brushes which usually takes between 30-45 minutes minimum because the dog hair gets stuck and wrapped around the brushes. Following this, the cycle starts all over so the majority of my time is spent cleaning out the brushes.
I do like that its fairly lightweight and that someone like me weighing 105 can easily handle it as can those who are stronger. I also really love the no mess no clean-up attitude in that there are no bags to empty or clean. It was not difficult at all to slide the lever, remove the container, empty it and replace it in vacuum. However, I do wish the container would hold a bit more. It did kind of astonish me with all the dirt that had accumulated in the carpet. Another advantage is that it's very easy to move and manipulate. Personally I think I would like it better if it was one of those where you can pick it up with a handle to move it, but it's easy enough to maneuver.
The handle release button is real nice and convenient located by your feet and you simply press on the lever and pull down on the top and it lowers real smoothly.
There are seven height positions which allow you to accommodate for differences in the floor such as tile to carpet etc. The dial can be accessed on the top front of the vacuum's brush compartment.
The vacuum has a built-in heat protector to ensure that the vacuum does not overheat and after about 30 minutes of cooling off will allow you to resume vacuuming.
The vacuum came with a limited one-year warranty. The user guide contained the troubleshooting scenarios, operations, proper care of the vacuum, and a list of replacement parts.
Personally I would not recommend this vacuum to pet owners because it can not handle the large amount of pet hair and dander that is needed. I might recommend it to regular homeowners but wouldn't for those with pets and animals. I do like the lightweight aspect of it and not needing a bag but those positives are not worth me spending hours at a time trying to clean out the brushes so I go to another room because the vacuum is not up to the challenge.
