The Bottom Line:
A good vacuum cleaner with unbelievable features yet value priced.
I can't believe I was excited when our new Bissell Cleanview Bagless arrived. I couldn't wait to try it out. I really hated to deprive my wife of the experience, and I am sure she hated not being able to inaugurate it! (Insert sarcasm here).
Our Eureka Triple Filter had served us well and still ran like a top, but we were tired of the odor from the bags. We keep our vacuum in our laundry area and the bag smell was unpleasant. We wanted to try a bagless model that we could empty after each use. After surfing around and reading reviews here, I saw this Bissell model at Walmart.com for around $95.00. The reviews looked good so we ordered.
Assembly
So easy! There are basically two pieces - the unit and the handle. The handle slides on and is secured by one Phillips screw. Snap on the hose, put the two attachments in their slots and your are ready to vacuum! Five to ten minutes from box to floor!
Features
The Bissell Cleanview Bagless is relatively light-weight, has a clear dust cup so you can see the dirt, and glides easily. After vacuuming one room, I could not believe how much dirt was in the cup! The suction was great. Emptying the cup is so easy. There's a lock/unlock switch right on the front - labeled in large letters. Simply slide the unlock lever, remove the cup, empty, and slide back in place. You can also rinse the cup out, but make sure it is dry before replacing.
There's a light on the front for vacuuming in dimly lighted areas. Seven height adjustments make it great for all types of carpet and hardwoods.
There are three filters - all washable. They do not have to be washed after each use, just occasionally. There is a pre-motor filter for air intake, a post motor filter for air release, and a tank filter above the dust cup. These will last a long time and as I mentioned are washable. Replacements can be ordered if needed. You can even get an optional hepa filter if you like (great for allergies, etc...)
Two attachments come with this model- an extension wand with a crevice tool, and a dusting brush. They snap on to the back of the machine and are easily attached with little effort.
The one rotating power brush did an excellent job when I vacuumed. The drive belt is standard. Another great feature is the NOISE LEVEL! This model is about one third the decibel level of my old Eureka! You can actually talk to someone without yelling while it is running.
The motor is twelve amps of power, and it has a feature called "Dual Edge Cleaning". I assume that means it will pick up from either the front or the side.
Another feature I've never had is a thermal protector. If the machine jams or overheats, this will stop it before it does damage to the motor. Tips for trouble-shooting if this happens are in the manual.
The manual instructions are clear and illustrated, and in English only.
Replacement part numbers are listed in the back of the manual, along with Bissell toll-free customer service numbers. They also have a website.
A standard one year warranty is clearly outlined in the manual.
The product registration card had a fun incentive for return- a $100,000.00 give-away! Wow- they must be selling a lot of vacuum cleaners!
I am thrilled with our new vacuum. It works wonderfully, was priced reasonably, and the air is much more fresh in our storage area! In a few weeks I'll try to update and see how it's working.
