The Bottom Line:
This vacuum is wonderful! I have not yet found a job it couldn't handle!
When my hubby and I got first place to live, we were so excited to buy all the furniture and decorations for the house. However, we quickly realized that with a dog, unless we wanted to live in a pig sty, one of our first purchases needed to be a vacuum cleaner. Since we literally owned no furniture, this vacuum had to be relatively inexpensive since we still needed to buy a couch, kitchen table and chairs, a mattress set, and other home furnishings. We qickly rules out many vacuums on the market because of the price. After narrowing our selection down to a few, we chose the Bissell Cleanview Bagless Upright Vacuum because it was on sale for only $85.
Features
Quick Wrap Cord Release
Basically this is the 2 prongs that you wrap the cord around. Simple and functional. The cord is 25 feet long. I don't have a huge house, but it's a 4 bedroom, one story. I can do the front rooms (living room, kitchen, dining room, part of hallway) on one plug and then change plugs and get all the bedrooms and the rest of the hallway. The cord is a decent length.
3 Stage Filtration
I'm not entirely sure what this means, but apparently your dirt is filtered 3 times as it is vacuumed up. One filter is a pre-motor filter, the other is a post-motor filter. I can't figure out where the 3rd filter is. The filters are washable and easy to replace. You can purchase them directly from Bissell's website.
Lightweight Design
This vacuum is very lightweight. My mom had a vacuum that was so heavy. I always got stuck vacuuming the stairs. What a chore! I have no problems with my Bissell Cleanview. It maneuvers easily.
7 Height Adjustments
There is a blue dial on the front of the vacuum that allows you to lower or raise the vacuum depending on what type of carpet you have. It can clean anything from bare floors to high pile carpet. I keep mine on a medium setting most of the time.
Attachments and tools
The Bissell Cleanview boasted an extra long hose that also comes with an extension wand to make it longer. It comes with a crevice tool which allows you to vacuum around baseboards, corners, the fireplace, furniture, etc. I haven't actually had to use this. Bryan does most of the vacuuming, but I have seen him use the crevice tool many times around the fireplace. It also has a Dusting Brush. This is great for pet owners! I just used this a couple days ago to clean an old couch I was giving away. It had dog hair on it. I was able to brush up the dog hair as I was vacuuming. It loosened it and made vacuuming it a breeze. The couch was immaculate when I was finished. The brush could also be used for drapes or any kind of upholstery.
Bagless
This is probably my favorite part of the vacuum. It has no bags and emptying the cannister is a breeze. There is a large clear dirt container right on the front of the vacuum. Once it is full, just slide the blue lever and it unlocks the cannister. Then slide the cannister out, dump its contents in the trash, slide it back in, and lock the lever. It is so easy! I like that it's clear because it tells me when I need to dump it.
I am always surprised at how much dirt and hair I pick up. I almost always have to empty the container after I vacuum my whole house. This 12 amp vacuum is pretty powerful and picks up everything! I will think my floors look pretty good so I am always shocked at the amount of gunk that is in the container when I'm finished.
Final Thoughts
I am very happy with my Bissell Cleanview Bagless Upright Vacuum. It performs very well and was not inexpensive at all. I am constantly comparing it to my mom's vacuums. She insists on buying extremely expensive vacuum cleansers. However, hers are heavier and don't seem to get the floors any cleaner than mine. For $85, it's a steal. I could not ask for more from a vacuum.
