Don't trust Bissell!

Pros Apparently Bissell manufactures a perfect product every time (this is sarcasm, see the comments).
Cons Poor customer service from Bissell, not willing to honor warranty.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Beware of Bissell, they don't stand by their warranty!
I did lots of research before deciding to spend hundreds of dollars on a steam cleaner.  It seemed that the Bissell ProHeat 2x was the best value for my money.  I wasn't ready to use it when I first bought it, so it sat in the box for 2 months.  When we finally used it, we had problems right off the bat.  While the power switch was turned on, the machine didn't turn on, we had to let it sit for about 10 minutes and jiggle the handle.  But it eventually did turn on and we were able to steam clean the carpets.  We didn't use the machine again for another 3 months.  And when we tried to use the machine for only the second time, it would not work.  I promptly called Bissell and they were very polite in helping trouble shoot the problem, however we were unable to fix it and the Bissell rep told me I had to take the machine to an authorized repair center.

From this point, it all went downhill.  My steam cleaner was at the repair center for over a month before I heard anything.  When the repair man finally called, he told me it was a $90 charge.  This made no sense to me as I had only used the machine once and it was still under warranty.  Besides the fact that the repair man lied 3 times about what was actually wrong with the machine, I would like to comment on Bissell's world-class LACK of service!  When I called them about the $90 charge I was expected to pay on a brand new machine that was still under warranty, they simply called the repair man and then called me back saying that since the repairman said it wasn't a warranty item, there was nothing they could do about it.  This persisted over a course of a week, Bissell would "investigate" the issue by calling the repairman (who told Bissell 3 different stories about what was wrong with the machine).  I was even told by a manager at the corporate office for Bissell that she could guarantee me that there was no way there was a manufacturing defect with the machine... Really?  Really?  That is amazing that she has such confidence in a mass produced item that she can guarantee me that machine came off the assembly line in 100% perfect condition!  I was absolutely disgusted at this point.  I have vowed never to buy another Bissell and I advise anyone who is considering purchasing a Bissell to keep this in mind.  The machine seems to work ok now, but who knows how long that will last.  Certainly the 1 year warranty means nothing!

Cons: Bissell's customer "service" is horrible and they apparently don't employ anyone who knows anything about the mechanics of the machines b/c they relied entirely upon the word of the repair man.

Bissell apparently has no intention of honoring the terms of the 1 year warranty b/c I bought a product that was defective from the box and they refused to acknowledge that a less than perfect machine could have come off the assembly line.
