The Bottom Line:
This is an excellent household vacuum--lots of value for the money.
After around five years of service, my Eureka Dirt Sensor vacuum finally bit the dust. I mentioned this to a friend and she began raving about the vacuum she was using, the Bissell Cleanview Bagless. I found the model 3593-1 on sale at a local Big Lots and since the price was right, around $100.00, I was more than willing to give it a try.
I never expected this vacuum would be such a great value--or that my carpet would be so dirty! The first time I used the Cleanview Bagless it pulled an amazing amount of dirt, dust and goodness knows what else out of my carpet. The clear dirt-collection cup filled up in no time and I found that I had to empty it twice just vacuuming the living room alone.
Actually, everything about the vacuum was great. Setup was a snap. Even I had it up and running in less than 10 minutes, needing only a screwdriver. The user's manual contains clear instructions and illustrations that even the mechanically-challenged (like me) can understand.
The vacuum body has an attractive streamlined appearance. It is a deep burgundy color and the tanks and collection cup are clear with burgundy trim. The Bissell takes up minimal storage space. Attachments are stored on the back of the vacuum within easy reach. Included are a crevice tool, dusting brush and an extension wand for cleaning draperies, upholstery, etc. The clear plastic dirt collection cup is easy to remove and allows you to see when it should be emptied. The cup is made of plastic and can be easily cleaned with plain soap and water when necessary.
The 30-foot cord makes vacuuming easy for even the largest room or moving from room-to-room without having to unplug. The cord stores on the side of the unit on two convenient wrap posts. The long stretch hose is also store on back of the vacuum.
There are three separate filters, easily accessible for cleaning and/or replacement. Although we are not bothered with allergies, this would definitely be a plus for those people needing deep cleaning to remove small dust particles, pet hair, etc.
With the flick of a switch, the Bissell can adjust to the type of floor being cleaned -- bare floors, short or medium pile carpets and plush pile carpets. The unit has a 12 amp motor and weighs around 17 pounds, a lot lighter than many models but just as serviceable.
The only negative I can think of for this vacuum is its rather loud operating noise. This could get a little annoying if vacuuming for a long period of time. However, the performance of this vacuum makes up for that and I still would recommend it.
It's a little loud, but it gets the job done!
