The Bottom Line:
The Bissell Lift-off has all the features you need and want. I recommend it.
Model 6860. Purchased this vacuum without reading any reviews about it.
A couple years ago, researched what vacuum would be best for my price range, around $100. However, the one wanted, couldn't find in local stores, only online and didn't want to pay high shipping costs. Therefore, ended up getting the same brand (Eureka) but not the features wanted.
Had to buy a new vacuum because my Eureka had water damage in it from Katrina (still works, very loud!). Chose bissell out of 2-3 other brands at a membership warehouse. Picked bissell because had the options and accessories liked.
The dual edge cleaning is nice, so I don't need to use the attachment to clean by the baseboards. My favorite feature is the on/off rotating brush power switch to use on uncarpeted areas. Also found convenient the detachable canister. The canister some off, but still has the hose and accessories go with it.
When looking through reviews before purchasing the previous vacuum, read many concerns about the weight. This vacuum really solves that problem. Because it's so easy to remove the canister for stairs or to clean vehicle.
Its handle is taller, better on your back. The accessories are great. It comes with everything you need. Like the telescoping wand. My son doesn't use this one as a sword. The upholstery/dusting brush is dual; it has one side with the bristles, and the other without. Genius! The turbo brush attaches. My previous vacuum had a turbo brush, but nowhere to store it.
The Bissell Lift-off also came with a tool for bare floors, doesn't have a place to store it, but it is invaluable for hardwood floors and tile. Very attractive vacuum also. More than we wanted to spend, but well worth it!
