It does the job it claims
Pros
The pet hair brush attachment, glides easily across any floor surface (adjustable height).
Cons
It is rather heavy, doesn't hold much before needing to be emptied.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
I would recommend this vacuum to anyone with pets.
I purchased this vacuum after we got rid of our cat. We had a Hoover for about 4 years that I thought was getting the job done. Boy was I wrong. The carpet always felt and looked clean, but apparently the old vacuum was just pushing things deep into the carpet.
I was astonished with what the Bissell picked up. Most of my home is hardwood with only about 1000sq feet of carpet in the entire home. I had to empty the new Bissell twice while vacuuming the carpeted area. TWICE. The attachment to the front acts like a lint brush attracting the pet hair and pushing into the mouth of the vacuum. I didn't really think this was a worthy product, but it sure did the job it claimed. It is fairly quite as far as vacuums go, I didn't need ear plugs or anything!
The height adjustment is easy to use and can be done on the fly if moving from hard to soft surfaces. The numerous attachments that were provided are effective if not the easiest to use. Once I got the unit assembled (not an easy task as the hoses don't seem to fit quite right until you get the unit fully assembled), everything worked just fine.
My wife, who hates vacuuming, doesn't mind using this vacuum as it glides easily across any surface as long as you have the height adjusted properly. The vacuum itself is heavy and not an easy thing to lift as the hand holds are placed in odd locations.
I still get confused about how to turn it on because the power switch is on the front of the unit about half way down. This is not the best placement for this. On the handle or a foot switch would have been a better choice.
