only problem: emptying canister and clean-up

Pros strong suction. pet hair doesn't have a chance!
Cons heavy and cumbersome body. messy dusty cleanup of open canister.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  i do not recommend it solely for the reasons stated concerning the messy and constant cleanup required.
one thing i believe is not thoroughly explained in all these positive reviews - something i will not accept in future vacuums - is the open canister as opposed to a closed vacuum bag.

as with most vacuums, there's always some kind of static charge created. whenever you have to empty the canister during vacuuming (even if you cover it until you get to the trash), the dust likes to float out and all around the canister. it's quite a mess, i even witnessed pollen making giant leaps out as if each one were a flea making a break for it! i couldn't make it to the trash bag in time. i suppose it's important to know you might have to do this outside or have the trash right there, but that still doesn't stop the cling from happening.

you can imagine that this dusty arrangement also makes its way around the vacuum itself. it's not a terrible ordeal, i just get a wet rag and wipe it down, but a potential buyer needs to be aware that there is some cleanup involved with this device - with every use if you have large areas to vacuum and need to empty the canister alot. the filters also make a mess when you want to clean them out. i ask myself what good it does to filter mold spores when you have them flying around again later during cleanup :-/. especially people who are allergic shouldn't have to deal with this.

so while you aren't paying for vacuum bags that have the filters included... you don't have to change bags nearly as often as you have to clean the canister. plus, you have to buy new filters eventually anyway for this bissell, so i am not sure how much money you really save in the long run.

one other note: i broke the first one. i was cleaning the brush and caused the whole vacuum to fall backwards, i grabbed the base which caused a snapping noise. afterwards the vacuum would not stay upright, quite flimsy. i exchanged it for a new one, this was before i realized how messy the cleanup is ;-)
