Yes
The Bottom Line:
You will not regret this purchase! I would rather buy multiples of this vacuum than one of any of the others.
My parents have a Rainbow. My sister has a Dyson Animal. My aunt and uncle have a Kirby. Out of all of them, I know I got THE BEST deal. I was strongly considering one of the aforementioned brands, but I really had a hard time justifying the cost.
My sister let me borrow her Dyson and I was sold until the Kirby sales people stopped by and pointed out a few things that is really a huge flaw in the design (the "intake" is at one end of the sweeper so the suction is great on that side and horrid on the other.) However, Kirby's are A LOT of money (and who needs that many attachments first of all and second who has the room for all those attachments!) It would be nice to have a shampooer but to rent one and DIY or have someone else do it with a coupon to save money sounds like a better plan.
Okay, why this one is superior.
1) Suction - A LONG time ago, my fiance dropped a spoon behind the couch (still not sure how). It wasn't dirty and didn't attract bugs (I could see it), but the couch weighs a ton. When I borrowed my sister's Dyson I tried to suck it up with the crevice tool and it couldn't do. This Bissell had no problem. It even held onto it for a good 2 seconds after I killed the power. Impressive.
2) All the attachments are on it. I have the turbo brush on the handle (excellent attachment) and everything is right on it! I hate having to hunt down attachments.
3) The turbo brush actually works. I tried the Dyson version and the brush stopped spinning when I put it on the couch. Hmm... It is a little small, but it works and it is connected to the vacuum unlike the Dyson one.
4) It lays perfectly flat to get under tables and bed up until it hits the canister. This feature is probably best completed by the Rainbow because it is a canister vacuum, but that's the problem with that one. I hate having anything but an upright. Having to drag that ball and chain around is irritating (falling over, getting stuck on the wall, etc.) Not a problem with this one!
5) The removable canister! INGENIOUS!!! I love that I can vacuum the house with my upright. And then have that kind of power to do along the base boards and just walk around with it. That is what I hate about uprights like the Dyson is that you have to drag the whole thing around with you. I gave it back to my sister the day that it got stuck sideways and took a spill to the ground and landed on my foot. Some people say that it is a little heavy and it may be, but while vacuuming you may need to adjust the height control (another great feature that only the Kirby has out of the ones I have tested.)
6) Bagless! Some reviews have said that the cannister is small, but it is no smaller than the Dyson's if you actually empty it at the max fill line. Plus the filters trap all that dust and allergens. It's wonderful. Probably the only feature that is superior on the dyson is that when you take the section out to dump the dirt it stays contained until you reach the dump site. The Bissell's comes out like a bowl and open on the top but in my eyes a small price to pay.
7) Exhaust exits out the back. yes it is warm but if it exits out the side like the dyson it blows all of the dust bunnies on vinyl floors away. It is like an arcade game to chase them around the kitchen because of the exhaust. Also, if carrying the canister around just face the exhaust opposite your leg and it won't bother you :)
This was very long, I hope it is helpful. I have done a lot of research and tried a lot of the big brands. I don't think it would ever go with anything else. You just can't beat it for the money and extra features.
As far as ease in cleaning, it is a vacuum so you can vacuum it to clean it. The filters are not that hard to clean either. We dump it in the garage and then use an air compressor to get the fine dust out of it.
As far a durability, it seems really sturdy. I don't plan on beating the thing with a hammer.
If you are concerned about the look of it, the red color is gorgeous. Would look great on a car :)
