The Bottom Line:
Nice low cost cleaner, works very well for its design.
My wife and I went to Best Buy, looking for a toaster oven, and saw this Bissell cleaner.
All they had was the display model, so we haggled a decent price (below $100).
We brought it home and I put it to use the next day.
We needed a new carpet cleaner to replace our old monster unit.
This unit is designed for light duty spot cleaning. We, however, need it for more intense use.
The water/cleaner tank is rather small, which is great for light use. For our heavy duty stuff, it still works okay.
We have to refill 3 times for our living room. Honestly it isn't bad, since it is a rather large room.
The cleaner has a brush that rotates which helps a great deal. It does get clogged with dog hair, but at least it gets it.. gets what the vacuum cleaner misses. You will need to spray out the area where it picks up. Solids are not collected very well. Make sure you vacuum first.
The cleaner is very effective. It doesn't use much water to do the job. It picks up almost as much water as it puts down. On average, once you clean an area, it is dry in only a few hours. I can do the living room in the late morning and have a completely dry carpet by late afternoon/early evening. This is much better than 10 hours plus for our old canister.
Naturally, Bissell recommends "their" cleaning solutions. I've found "generic" cleaners work well too, at a lower price. Shop around.
It is very good at cleaning and gets stains off our cream colored family room, even with "child stains" and minor ground in dirt stains.
I highly recommend it if you don't need to do your whole house every week. I'd say it is great for light and medium duty, and even works for minimal heavy duty work.
