The Bottom Line:
If you need easy spill clean up or stain removal, I recommend this over hand-helds or deep-cleaners.
We purchased this product because the hand-held steam-vacs for "quick cleanups" never really did a good job and usually broke 6 months into ownership. I have 2 children, a sloppy husband, 2 dogs, and 3 cats. There is ALWAYS a stain to clean up.
I love this product because it's so easy to store away since it's smaller than my carpet vacuum. It is super easy to fill the shampoo tank which only takes about an ounce of cleaning solution, which makes it very cost effective. It's suction is excellent; far better than my canister deep cleaner. It's easy to get into tight spaces and gets right up against the wall when shampooing. You can clearly see if you've gotten all of the stain/liquid up and that the area is completely clean because of the see-through suction receptacle.
The Quicksteam is easy to empty and replace since it has 2 locking clips on either side of the recepticle. If you start to see foam or water coming out of the vents on top, you know you need to empty it. There are no screws or plugs to worry about with the water recepticle. You simply remove it from the base and dump it out of the corner channel. The cord is long enough to comfortably clean a 17x17 room.
The Bissell QuickeSteamer will be replacing my large Bissell canister and wand steam cleaner. While I would like to have a rotating brush, I don't really mind that this particular item doesn't have one since it being used primarily to clean up spills or pet messes.
That being said, there are some drawbacks to this product. The trigger can start to feel very loose after only 15 uses, making the user question if all of the solution is being sprayed out like it should be. Also, the solution and water container is small. I usually have to refill it a few times if I'm working on a particularly soiled area. This can be a pain because the dirty water receptacle needs to be emptied at the same time. This can mean a lot of trips back and forth. While the dirty water recepticle is easy to remove and replace, it tends to drip once it's removed and I dislike having that dirty water dripping down my arm as I race to empty it. It also accumulates a lot of hair/lint, even after the carpet has been dry-vacuumed ahead of time, but it's very difficult to remove a large clump without needle-nose pliers or some other similar tool. This is not convenient for me as a pet owner and leads to a rather nasty stench if any solid object is left behind after cleaning.
The Bissell QuickSteamer is definitely NOT for deep-cleaning carpets but is a better alternative to dragging your big deep-cleaner out for a small job or crawling around on your hands and knees with a hand-held for larger jobs. Over all, I have been very pleased with this product and have recommended it to many of my friends.
