Lean Green Stain-Lifting Machine
Pros
Lightweight; Easy to push
Cons
Not really steam
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Does a nice job for the price. The biggest drawback is that it is hard to clean inside the tanks.
This carpet cleaner isn't anything special; it spits water down on the carpet and then sucks it back up. There is not much more to it except for the brushes at the bottom that drag when it is pushed. The cleaning solution that goes into the tank is really good and does a good job of removing spots and making the room smell fresh again.
Price
After doing the math, I decided if I wanted an expensive carpet cleaner I would just rent one and not go through the hassle of storing it.
The first and foremost reason I chose this cleaner over others is because it was the least expensive one. The cleaner was only $70 which I think is the lowest they go. Although its inexpensive, it still achieves the desired results for me. The brush on the front really makes a difference over my last carpet cleaner.
Compact
The second reason that I chose this model is because it was compact and lightweight. It takes up less space and pushes a lot easier than other models.
The cleaning path is 8.5 inches. It is currently the lightest upright on the market, weighing in at only 12 pounds. The lightweight effect is definitely a plus.
Letting Some Steam Off
I am not sure why companies keep calling the cheap carpet cleaners "steamers". I think that is quite misleading because they don't generate any steam. The only way to get steam out of this appliance is by putting very hot tap water in it.
Cleaning Solution
A trial size of cleaning solution comes in the box and will clean about 2 rooms. You can buy a bug jug of cleaner in the same section that you found the Bissell.
Putting it together
This is really easy to put together, there's only two parts.
Features
There are some things about this model that makes cleaning my carpet a lot easier than the last few cleaners that I've had. First of all the handle is comfortable and since it's a smaller lightweight cleaner it's much easier to push and use.
Another benefit of this smaller model is that it is not as loud as bigger models. This makes less noise than my vacuum does. That's not to imply that it's quiet, but this doesn't hurt my ears like some cleaners that I've had in the past.
This doesn't get the carpet as wet as previous cleaners have.
What's missing?
Although this is small and lightweight, small jobs are not its specialty. It is still a big hassle to get this out and set up for one small spill.
There aren't any attachments at all so this appliance will not do the sofa or car.
It is lightweight but not portable so you won't be doing the stairs with it.
The tank isn't heated and therefore does not really steam clean.
There are some really good cleaning brushes on this however they just drag but do not rotate. The brushes are removable so you can clean or replace them but they don't rotate on their own. The brushes are really great. I think I will look for a cleaner with rotating brushes on my next purchase. I believe the similar model with "powerbrush"
in the title is the one that rotates.
The dirty tank is easy to get off of the appliance but makes a mess when dumping out. There's no way of opening up the dirty tank to give it a good cleaning which will be a huge drawback for those with pets.
There goes the carpet
One thing to note before you get excited about a clean carpet...each time you put the cleaning solution on the carpet it is one step closer to replacing the carpet. The cleaner breaks the fibers down causing fading, holes and excessive wear.
Pets
I don't have pets but have experienced some accumulation of hairs after a couple of rooms. I would not recommend this appliance for cat or dog lovers.
Overall
This is best for cleaning just one room or in high traffic areas. It's only going to reach the surface dirt and will probably be best suited for those trying to maintain already clean carpets. This isn't going to help much with set in stains or with deep cleaning.
