The Bottom Line:
Good for small messes. Difficult to use for large areas.
I bought this for about seventy dollars at Walmart two or three years ago. I got it to clean my carpets, thinking it was a steam cleaner or a carpet shampooer. It works good for cleaning up spills, or for getting the carpet semi clean, but don't expect wonders. I use it mostly for cleaning my kids' bath water off of the linoleum floor, because it gets the floor dry, even though this is not its intended use.
It does not actually produce steam. It simply puts the water from the tank on the floor and then sucks it up. It does not heat the water, or create steam. The 'cross action brush' implies that the bristles spin or move in some way when in fact they simply slide across the carpet. If you need something to maintain the cleanliness of your carpet, this may be for you. This will not do heavy work.
It can be messy to empty the dirty water when you are finished, because it tends to spill out of other holes, like the filter hole. It is nearly impossible to get the dirty water tank completely clean because it is so oddly shaped, there are a lot of angles that you just can't get to. This would not be such a huge deal, except the dirty water can smell after a while if you don't clean it out completely.
The clean water tank is not nearly large enough. I am usually able to clean an area about five foot by five foot on one tank, maybe six by six. It is extremely light weight, and easy to maneuver.
