I bought a Transonic Pro and tried it for the first time today. I just moved into an apartment and had forgotten how cockroaches can spread from other apartments. I am fastidious in my habits to the point of thoroughly rinsing food cans and wrappers before tossing them in the trash. Nevertheless, I soon saw the creepy crawly bugs invading from all directions.
In a regular house, I would normally use a combination of fumigating foggers and chemical sprays over a period of about two weeks to eliminate the problem and barricade the survivors out. Having been a landlord for about twenty years, I'm extremely familiar with this technique. By the way, a German cockroach has a gestation period of ten to fourteen days, so you aim your program to hit both the live ones and, subsequently, the young hatchlings. Anyone proposing a prolonged spraying schedule at thirty day intervals is ripping you off.
Out of consideration for neighbors who might object to being exposed to such chemicals I decided to try this method, since it is represented to use noise that is virtually above human and pet hearing.
After turning it on at the recommended medium noise level for the pests in question, I am about to run out of the front door. Of course, the Bird-X company probably considers me a cockroach for writing this comment. Before turning to other pursuits, I worked in a boiler making factory in my youth without ear protection, so I don't think it can be fairly said that my hearing is unduly sensitive.
For an example you might better relate to, I'm currently sitting three feet from a television operating at normal conversational tones and four feet from the operating Transonic Pro set at medium level. I cannot hear the television, my ears are ringing and my stomach is upset.
I think I'll unplug my new device and go to bed.
