The Bottom Line:
If you can't find straight camphor w/o FD&C yellow #5, this works exceptionally. Is stainless, non-greasy and COLD ! Temporary but effective.
What better way to ease the pain away but with soothing ICE ?
Well actually that is exactly what BioFreeze Pain Relieving Gel in the 32 ounce complete with pump to spit the stuff out feels like since this little modern medical miracle gel is stored in your freezer. It is a green gel that smells very minty but without the sugar. In order to really do a good review I was lucky enough to have been experiencing a sore neck from the shoulder blades up into the base of my neck and rubbing some of this on worked for about ten minutes and then I myself, found the stingy sensation a little strange.
Yes it loosens the muscles and relieves the tension but does it also have to slightly burn indicating it is working ? Yes ! So as I keep typing in my upright lumbar-perfect position, my lower back is a little sore. So I try there. Same thing and within ten to fifteen minutes, pain is subsiding, little stinging sensation is equally subsiding and I can soon finish this short review on a good product.
Concentrated with ILEX which I discovered is a Skin Protectant Paste, this topical Hydro Active skin barrier seals out wetness to heal and protect severely damaged skin and helps for deep penetrating effects for true pain relief. This synthetic compound helps the skin absorb the Camphor 0.2% and Menthol 3.5% deep into the subcutaneous tissues.
It has been twenty minutes for the application on the base of my neck and while its icy-hot, it is definitely easier to move from side to side and nod up and down. Mobility improved by 50% so far . . .
This is holistic healing and it is called ’cryotherapy--the cold method’ which uses cold concentrations of certain compounds to treat a myriad of injuries. It is not recommended for open wounds, lacerations, insect bites, or any skin problem--this is intramuscular. It goes on top of the skin and works its way through the layers to provide relief as often as one might need. BioFreeze Pain Relieving Gel smells very strong and works very well but not immediately.
Indications:
For the temporary relief from minor aches and pains of sore muscles and joints associated with arthritis pain, backache, strains and sprains.
Directions:
Adults and children 2 years of age and older: Apply to the affected areas not more than 3-4 times daily. Children under 2 years of age it is recommended you call your physician. Rub a thin layer or film over pained area of the body, massage not necessary (but it does help and feels really good). Rinse hands with cool water.
Warning: Consult your physician before use if you are pregnant or nursing or have sensitive skin. Use only as directed. For external use only. In case of accidental ingestion, seek professional assistance or contact a Poison Control Center immediately. Avoid contact with eyes or any mucous membranes. If condition worsens, or if symptoms persist for more than seven days or clear up and recur again within a few days, discontinue use of this product and go see your physician. Do not apply to damaged skin or wounds of course. Do not combine with any other ointments, creams, sprays, or liniments. Do not bandage tightly. Store in a cool dry place. Keep away from excessive heat or open flame. Do not use with heating pads.
Okay mobility is improved almost 80% now and the cooling sensation is definitely THERE ! But the pain is almost virtually not there. The packaging is mall, easy to tear across top to open and it can be folded over and held with a paper clip, if all of it won’t be used in one day.
I am not thrilled about the FD&C yellow #5 but with only a small application needed not too often in one day, and it is the second to last ingredient, overall it is relatively safe yet HIGHLY effective. Now after thirty three minutes after the initial application, I can move my head around and flex my shoulder blades to accept strange positions since sleep is calling me now. It is cheaper to buy a box of fifty or 100 packets but this pump bottle will last at least six months. It is roughly about $10.oo to $13.oo for one bottle though so stock up if you have to when BioFreeze Pain Relieving Gel is on sale.

Inactive Ingredients: water; isopropyl alcohol; herbal extract; ILEX Paraguariensis; carbomer; triethanolamine, silicon dioxide; methylparaben; FD&C yellow #5 (great I can suffer increased hyperactivity and decreased intelligence quotient); and finally FD&C blue #1 which is still safe because of its concentration.
