Welcome to Big Brain Academy

Shortly after the purchase of my Nintendo DS lite I needed to find another game for it, because Trauma Center:Under Knife wasn't cutting it for me (no pun intended). So I said to myself,"what better way to heighten my intellectual learning abilities than by... Read full review »

Big Brain Academy: More Smartening From Nintendo

byGravityGirl Jul 22, 2006
32 Helpfuls 33 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Games are fun, price is low
Cons Progress is not tracked, not a lot of extras
Recommended it? Yes

Big Brain Academy (BBA) for the DS is the second in a line of "smartening" games for the DS. It is a shabby cousin to the other "smartening" game, Brain Age. One cannot avoid comparing the two games; not only are they from the same genre on the same platform, but both games were published and... Read full review »

Think, Think, Think with Big Brain Academy

Pros Differing levels, quick play, great for all ages.
Cons Can be frustrating for avid gamers who try to test without practicing.
Recommended it? Yes

I am a thief. I stole the think, think, think line from Steve Burns of Blues Clues fame. However, if you are thinking that Nintendo's Big Brain Academy on the same level as Blue and her friends, you are sadly mistaken.
Big Brain Academy is definitely not for the Blues Clues crowd. It makes... Read full review »

Pros addicting, cheap
Cons You will never be the best.

My husband bought everyone in our family a Nintendo DS for Valentine's Day. I have wanted on for awhile now, but it was never a priority. I was so excited when I received one. I have never been a big fan of video games that take a lot of skill, just because I never played that much to really get... Read full review »

Pros Hours upon hours of fun, challenging at times, doesn't get boring, great price!
Cons Some of the games can get boring after, but most of them are still fun!
Recommended it? Yes

I actually really like this game, it's one of my favorites! I own the other very similar game, Brain Age, and find this one to be a lot more fun. It has a lot of different games that you can do and unlike Brain Age you can play it as many times as you want in one day and it will score you each... Read full review »

Fun, but repetitive

bysigsauerman Aug 6, 2008

Pros Some Games are good, Time-waster
Cons Gets boring, repetitive, Childish
Recommended it? No

The DS has been the focal point of Nintendo's many new brain-improving games. This is one of them.

The first thing that strikes you when you start up big brain academy is the more casualness of the game. The game lacks the formality of Brain Age, and is a more child or young-person... Read full review »

Big Brain Academy is a fun-filled game! This is one of my favorite Nintendo DS games! You can also have up to 4 students on 1 Nintendo DS! This means that friends an family can make accounts without having their own DS or Big Brain Academy game. It also grades you on the tests that you take which... Read full review »

Repetitive, gets old really quickly

byhbj200 Mar 21, 2007
7 Helpfuls 8 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Fun for a few minutes
Cons Repetitive, harsh grading, questionable value
Recommended it? No

Big Brain Academy is a collection of repetitive "games" that test your memory and vision. You can choose to test yourself or practice. Either way, the number of game choices is limited -- and unlocking practice games is a pain as you need to play the same game in each category over and over (even... Read full review »
