The Bottom Line:
Grab one of these if you can find it. Its well worth the money to have coffee your way.
With all the places selling coffee drinks, my coffee bill was getting out of control. I love most of the drinks, but had to cutback on the cost so that sent me searching for a home machine that would give me the results that I wanted and maybe cut back on my coffee expense.
While shopping around for a machine, I came across the Bialetti Mukka Express Espresso Machine Bialetti is one of the finest Italian coffee makers on the market. I have the stovetop model and love it, but it doesn't deliver a cappuccino with the great froth on top. That has to be done separately.
I purchased the Bialetti Mukka Express Espresso Machine for $60.00, on eBay. You can find it going as high as $139.00, in stores and on eBay. I was just lucky because I wouldn't have paid more than the $60.00, for something that I knew very little about.
What does it come with?
1 pressure valve with a safety ring.
Upper part.
Filter Plate
Gasket seal of the upper part
Funnel and gasket seal
Heater Unit
Safety Valve
Hot plate with no timer.
On/off button.
Plastic Beaker for measuring water.
The Bialetti Mukka Express Espresso Machine is specifically designed form making cappuccino or milk coffee. Only water and milk go into the maker. Nothing else.
Hurry up, let's get started with the cappuccino
First things, first. I do recommend that you wash the Bialetti Mukka Express Espresso Machine with hot soapy water first. I do this by hand and with a long handled sponge because I can't reach inside the pot.
Now we are ready to make the cappuccino
Get a good Italian Roast coffee, ground for espresso. I use Cafe Bustelo because I love the flavor. That is used mostly in Cuban Coffee.
Plug in the hotplate, you will see a red light. That means it isn't turned on. Add the correct amount of water to the base of the coffee maker, add the funnel and the funnel filter and measure your coffee into the funnel. don't pack it because this machine works on a vacuum and it will make it difficult for the water to rise to the top. Make sure that the edges don't have any coffee grounds on them because you won't get a tight seal. You can use a damp cloth to remove the grounds.
Now it's time to put the top on. Don't use the handle to screw the top chamber on or you could damage the handle. Make sure everything is lined up just right and the top is tightly screwed on. Now its time to add the milk. In the top, you will see a line. That is as much milk as you need to add. Close the lid. You will notice a round object in the middle, that is the pressure valve, press it down.
Place the coffee maker onto the hotplate, that isn't hard to do, it fits nicely onto the plate without a lot of struggle.
Press the silver button on the front until the light turns green. You are now brewing your coffee. Don't open the lid until you year the beep signal, which should take about four minutes.
Start getting your cup ready with the sweetener or flavor that you want. When the coffee is ready, just pour and stir. Now help the froth out of the pot with a spoon. It couldn't be easier. If you just want a milk coffee/latte don't press the pressure valve down.
What are some of the Cons?
Let's see. If you don't get the bottom chamber screwed onto the top chamber just right, the coffee will spew out the sides of the bottom. If you used too much milk, you will have it foaming out the top. Remember it takes a lower boiling point for milk than it does water based products.
How many cups will this make?
The Bialetti Mukka Express Espresso Machine makes one 3.7 ounce cup. If you want more you will have to wait until the machine cools down or you could experience some serious burns.
Remember to never put the bottom chamber on the stovetop because it is made of a heavy plastic and could melt.
If you follow the directions laid out for you, you should have no problems with your Bialetti Mukka Express Espresso Machine. Once I got past all the errors, I have had a very enjoyable time with my machine and do highly recommend it to anyone who wants to cut down on the price of their coffee drinks and you don't have to worry about the flavor, its what you make it. If you want just a plain latte, it is very good.
You can have them anyway you want them, anytime you want them. The only limit is your imagination.
