The Bottom Line:
This cable is perfect for anyone that needs to have a longer monitor cable.
Several weeks ago I found myself in a difficult spot at work and I needed a solution. I was moving an existing workstation at work and I was moving it to a larger desk and I soon found out that PS/2 and the VGA monitor cables were going to be too short to fit the location I needed them too.
Have you ever found yourself in a similar situation at home or office and wonder how you were going to get your computer set up? How did you solve the problem? I usually try and find another way of setting it up to fit, only this time was different. I had no other way to set it up.
So I went to my boss with my problem and explained to him that there was no other ways to set it up to make the short cables reach the computer. He told me that he would have to research the problem and find a solution. After a couple of hours he returned from the computer store with some cables. He handed them to me and told me that these would solve my problem.
I took the packages and looked at them and I figured he checked with the salesperson at the store and they assured him that they would work. What he gave me was three packages and two of them were PS2 extension cables and the third one was a VGA extension cable. This review is going to cover the VGA extension cable and if you want to find out about the two PS2 cable extensions checkout my review on the PS2 extension. The

Just like with the PS2 extension cables I was worried about signal interference with this extension. My worried were laid to rest after I checked out the construction of this cable. Belkin took all the precautions to ensure that there wouldn't be any signal loss. This was accomplished by using 24k gold plated copper tips on male connector end. This would ensure the most accurate connection possible. To ensure that the cable stays in place Belkin included large size thumb screws to connect both ends of the extension to be sure it doesn't wiggle loose.
The cable itself is 6ft. in length and is covered with a flexible light gray PVC plastic cover. This cover allows the cable to be flexed without damaging the conductors inside. The plug ends are specially covered to allow the ends to flex without compromising the signal quality.
Installation of this cable was pretty simple and it worked for my needs. I simply placed the computer on the floor next to the desk and placed the monitor in the center of the desk. I stretched the monitor cable out toward the computer and I attached the female end of the extension cable to the end of the monitor cable. I tightened the thumb screws on the end of the cable to lock it in place. Then I attached the other end to the computer and powered the computer on and it worked perfect. I didn't notice any reduction in signal quality.
Recommendation
If you find yourself in a similar situation as I found myself in, rather than curse the maker of the monitor check out one of these extension cables. This will save you a lot of stress trying to figure out how you can put the monitor closer to the computer. You also don't have to worry about signal loss since Belkin did a great job of taking that into account when they designed this cable.
