Laid Back Fishing Fun

bypmussi Jan 29, 2000
Pros Does a good job of recreating the overall feeling of real fishing.
Cons One player game, not real high intensity gaming.
Recommended it? Yes
If you are looking to recreate that easy, carefree fishing feeling in the comfort of your own home without all the fuss of getting your gear together, Bass Fishing is for you. Sega does a good job of putting you out on the water complete with sun and rain, even normal outdoor adventure sounds. Choose from a realistic array of lures, pick your casting point, and begin the dance to tease our fine finned friends to take the bait. It's all in the wrist! Do a good job of picking your casting point (perhaps under a dock or in a rocky area) and work the lure just like real fishing. Depth and water temperature help you decide how you want to fish. When you get a hit, then it's time for the real fun. Some of those critters put up a real fight! As you bring your trophy into the boat, you are told how much it weighs. Since Sega's Bass Fishing plays out in a tournament venue, you must clear a certain weight with your catches in the allotted time. If you are successful, you can advance to the next fishing area.

You can add a Dreamcast fishing rod to add to the realism. The only downfall there is that Bass Fishing is the ONLY game the rod will work with. A great addition is the jump pack for your controller. It really gives you the feeling of fighting the fish. I got mine at http://gamezonez/vstoregame.com It adds a lot to this game.
