All the fun and no worms to hook!

Pros fun and addictive
Cons only one type of fish
Recommended it? Yes
While I am not a big fishing fan, I do enjoy an occasional afternoon with a rod and a six pack. But with Bass Fishing from Sega, I can now do some fun fishing and not have to take a day off and best off, no dealing with bait or cleaning of fish! Plus, I have much better luck here than I ever had doing the real thing.

Like many of Sega's games, Bass Fishing is a simple, yet addictive game. You go out on the lake and try to catch fish. Cannot be more simpler than that. In theory, it sounds pretty stupid and dull. But Sega is a master at taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary! This game is very addictive! From the first time you reel in a fish, to when you land a whopper, you will be hooked (pun intended)! The simple battle of man versus fish is older than recorded time. And nowhere is it more interesting than here.

Unlike some of the lesser quality fishing games that are released for the computers and other systems, this game is pure action and excitement! One of the best things is the under the water view, where you can direct your lure as you do your best to entice the fish to bite. Watching these fish and their realistic look and movement is alone worth the price of admission (and since the game is now only $19.95 new, it is a incredible deal). The fish not only swim around, but you will see them going up to eat bugs or chasing down minnows and other smaller fish in the water. They really act realistic and this helps to pull you into the game. Also, Sega again adds the little touches. Fish enough and you will see other fish from minnow to what looks like blue gills, swimming around. There are even a few turtles that make their way around the lake. On the water, you see a few leaves floating and other stuff that gives it the more realistic feel that you come to expect from a Sega made game.

The game features numerous different game options. You can play the arcade mode, where you need to land a certain number of pounds of fish to continue on, to playing in tournaments to just fishing. Each one offers a fun experience and will keep you coming back.

The game offers a decent amount of lures to start off with and as you progress, you will unlock numerous other lures. This will keep you coming back as you want to keep stocking your tackle box and see what new and exciting lures you can add.

One thing I will recommend is to get the Sega fishing rod. While the game is fun with a controller, it is a blast with the rod! It greatly adds to the game and now that Marine Fishing is available, you can use the controller with more than one game.

The only drawback with the game is that you only fish for bass. Luckily they remedied this with the Marine Fishing. Maybe down the road, they will do a Freshwater Fishing game for the Dreamcast and you can also fish for walleyes, pikes, catfish and others. But for now, this game is a great start to a franchise that I hope they keep expanding on.
