I was given HH2000 as a Christmas gift and played the heck out of it. I thought it was a good PC baseball game (read my review of HH2000 for more info.) So when HH2001 came out, I had to give it a try. I'm glad I did.

The good:

The graphics are a little bit better. There have been some small animations give to the players, such a the pitcher pumping his fist over a strikeout, which are fun. More ball parks have been added, including PNC Park which are is scheduled to open until next year.

The number of statistics kept has been increased, including detailed information about the history of each team. Annual awards and hall of fame info is also now tracked for each season in career mode.

The option to quit and save a game has been added. This is good because the game still has a tendency to crash once in a while, especially at the conclusion of a game (anyone else have this problem).

The AI is very good and proper decisions are made the computer.

The Bad:

Game still seems to crash every now and then.

The base running has still not been figured out---runners still do not attempt to score from 2nd base on base hits. This is especially annoying with two outs.

I haven't noticed too much in the way of bugs, but there is one glaring one I have noticed. After a base on balls, there is a graphic which shows the location of all the pitches made to the batter. Well, there is an annoying bug which makes it look like you are betting the view from between the catchers legs--I hit the escape button.

Summary:

If you liked HH2000, you will be happy with HH2001. And don't worry about those many seasons and time you have invested into HH2000. You can convert them to HH2001 format.
