Some people say to soak the dried mushroom in hot, not boiling water, for 30 minutes, others say to use cold water and soak them overnight. The cold water people contend that using hot water may cause bitterness. When you soak the mushrooms, the weight will increase from 2 to 4 times. The photo is roughly 7.5 inches per side.
