The Bottom Line:
The Bottom Line is precise and pretty.....
I learned years ago that one of the biggest secrets to a flawless face of makeup is the tools by which you apply it. Makeup brushes are a must have for anyone who wants the easiest and best results when applying makeup. I used to balk at this very truth. First of all, who wants to spend that much money on a brush when there are much cheaper alternatives? (like those horrid little sponge tip eyeshadow applicators) And secondly, I didn't think I needed brushes when I had cheaper stuff, and fingertips.
Then I snapped into reality. Now I own a large assortment of brushes, and not just any brushes.... I'm talking quality brushes. And oh what a difference it has made in my makeup world.
I will tell you right now... INVEST IN GOOD BRUSHES and you will not regret it. Yes it will take some money to do that, but it is an investment that will last a long, long time as long as you take proper care of them.
One of the brushes I added to my arsenal several years ago while on a shopping trip with a fellow beauty buddy was the Bare Escentuals Eyeliner Brush. I was intrigued by the bristles and shape of the brush compared to the eyeliner brushes offered through MAC and many other makeup companies. Most eyeliner brushes are slanted or angled and while I do have one of those and I like it, I loved the shape of the Bare Escentuals brush and had to have it.
My hunch was right and this little baby is amazing! It applies eyeliner in any form with ease and accuracy. The bristles are fine and few, but firm enough not to fray and cause a mess. The brush allows you to create a fine, defined line that you can build upon if you wish to. I have used this brush with gel eyeliners (like MAC Fluidlines and Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner) and also with eyeshadows, both wet and dry.
Being the size that it is, it picks up just the right amount of product for an application to an upper and lower eyelid. The shape of the brush allows really awesome precision and it's also very easy to maintain a straight, accurate line. The bristles maintain their shape during application so that stray fibers don't cause a mess around your eye. The brush nicely flows along the lash line and gets as close to the edge as you want it to. If your line is too thin, you can simply go back over it to thicken it up.
I've had this brush for a few years now and it has held up remarkably well. I usually clean mine with a bit of alcohol and wipe it gently with a clean tissue or washcloth, then let it dry. I am careful not to use it or clean it in a way that disturbs its natural thin, flat, pointed shape.
The bristles on this brush are synthetic (it's called Taklon) so no animals are harmed in the making of this brush.
If you use any form of eyeliner that requires the use of an eyeliner brush, do yourself a huge favor and get this brush now! I love mine and if I ever come to the point that I need to replace it, I'll do it right away.
