Bare Escentuals Handy Buki Brush By Bare Escentuals

I have been using mostly brushes from Bare Escentuals to apply my makeup. Overall, I have been quite pleased with the quality of their brushes with the exception of their Flawless Application Face Brush, which is far from flawless.

My Experience
The Bare Escentuals Kabuki Brush is one of my favorite brushes. When I had a card for $10 off any purchase at Bare Escentuals, I decided to peruse their brushes and decided to purchase the Handy Buki Brush.

The Handy Buki Brush is a fantastic brush. It is reasonably priced at $20, though I picked mine up for only $10 after the $10 off! The brush has a long handle with the signature matte black Bare Escentuals look and brush identification engraved onto the handle. The handle is made up of two parts: a chrome barrel and then the black handle. The overall length of the handle (chrome barrel and handle together) measures about 4.25 inches long.

The bristles of the brush are shorter than the Kabuki brush. They are well packed together to provide medium to full coverage. I use the brush with my bareMinerals foundation, though once I am finished with the bareMinerals, I plan to use the brush with my Lancome Dual Finish foundation. The Handy Buki Brush picks up the bareMinerals easily with a bit of a swirl. I tap away the excess powder and then buff it on. The brush delivers a good amount of coverage due to the dense bristles. I find the bristles of the Handy Buki Brush to be soft (but not super soft). The bristles do shed, though I noticed that earlier on when the brush was new and now the shedding of bristles seems to have tapered off. The bristles do fan out a bit after use, but they still are effective in application. Compared to the Bare Escentuals Kabuki Brush, I like that the Handy Buki Brush applies foundation easier around my nose and eyes. Since the area around my nose tends to be a bit red, I find that the dense short bristles of the Handy Buki Brush are perfect to deliver and blend in powder to even out the skin tone. Also, the extended handle makes it much easier to use compared to the Kabuki Brush.

I have tried using the Handy Buki Brush with regular foundation compacts and have found that it does well with foundations that are not in the Bare Escentuals line. I wash the brush with soapy water or a brush cleanser and the bristles have held up well. Again, the only change to the bristles is a bit of fanning out at the edges. The goat hair bristles still are soft even after multiple washes.

Since purchasing the Handy Buki Brush, it has become the favorite brush, overtaking the Kabuki! I didn't think it was possible to find a better brush than the Kabuki, but the Handy Buki Brush has proven me wrong. It was a well-invested $10!

Overall Thoughts
The Bare Escentuals Handy Buki Brush is a terrific brush that delivers a medium to full coverage.
