Great game for girls 5-7 years old.
I purchased Barbie Pet Rescue for my daughter for her 6th birthday. This seemed the perfect CD-ROM for her because she loves Barbie and animals.
Installing this game is easy. Insert the disk and if you have auto run feature a start menu comes up. You choose the INSTALL and follow the instructions on screen.
The story of the game is Barbie has her own Pet Rescue Center. Barbie is looking for some help. You can help care for and play with the animals. You also help Barbie go on missions to rescue the animals.
The fist screen you are in is the Pet Rescue Center. Here you can play games with the animals, care for newly rescued animals and wait for the phone to ring asking for help. Sign your name in and you're ready to help Barbie.
When you are called to go on a rescue your job is to guide Barbie through the area in search of the animal. You move your mouse from one side of the screen and look for a blue arrow then click and this will make Barbie move. Move the cursor over everything and click to investigate. There is a yellow star on all screens, if you are stuck and need a clue you click on it.
Your first mission is to rescue a puppy. The puppy is stranded at the playground. Some other missions are catching a bunny on the playground, finding a missing parrot, helping a kitten down from a high jungle gym and there is one mystery rescue. While you are going on all the other rescues some very strange things are on the ground. This mystery animal is a monkey and you find clues like a banana to lead you too this last rescue.
If you find yourself really stuck, there are hints in the users guild for each mission.
Once you rescue an animal you take it to the checkup room. Here you can feed the animals, and give them a bath. To nurture the animals, click on an animal and you'll get to pet her. Just roll the cursor over the animal to pet. Some other games are the puppy treat toss. The goal is to throw treats for the puppy to catch. There is also the Hamster trail, you slide green blocks to try to make a path so the hamster can reach the food. There is also the Turtle Race game. Here you race Barbie by gilding the turtle to the other end of the maze before she does.
The game says from ages 5 and up. My daughter is seven is still playing the game but not as much as she used to. I would say she is starting to grow out of it.
I bought this game over a year ago at Wal-Mart. I paid $29.99 at that time but I think the game has since come down in price.
