Swedish Style is Expensive
Pros
Sound quality is above average, comfortable.
Cons
Sound quality is only above average, expensive.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Recommended if you can deal with the 100 dollar price tag. You can find better sounding but probably not better looking for the same price.
Headphones come a plenty nowadays and it's becoming increasingly harder to differentiate between the good ones and the bad ones. And just like speakers, it's becoming more and more subjective as the prices of better models are coming down so more and more people are becoming exposed to them. Back in the day when Sony tape/radio walkmen were the thing and the "el-cheapo" headphones included were good enough for most people, the sound quality didn't really matter. Now everyone's all about sound quality.
Enter the Bang and Olufsen Form 2 headphones. After using these for a while, generally it has set a good impression on me.
At first I bought them because they looked nice, and in that respect it's very good. Just look at Bang and Olufsen's lineup of other products, and you'll notice one thing and that's that they are excellent at designing products that look incredible. Of course I also purchased these off of positive secondhand feedback, but I wanted to get that point through.
The sound quality on these are above average. The highs are good although it's the mid and upper midrange where this excells. When listening to music, it's mostly the tenor and soprano instruments, and the vocals that come through clearly. The bass response is good, but it's not as sharp and tight as one would hope. It's there, but if super loud bass is your thing, try something else. The design of the drivers was designed to be very open so you end up hearing everything in a very "open" feel, which is a positive thing. The downside to this is that everyone else gets to enjoy your music as much as you do too.
One thing worth mentioning about this is that it's also very comfortable. The resistance on bending the frame when fitting on your head is high enough to stay on, but low enough to be comfortable. The earpieces also swivel around to match however the headphones are positioned on your head which is a definite plus.
But the big negative mark on this is the sticker price. At a retail price of 100 dollars, it's quite a hefty price to pay for this. But in the end, I would still say it is worth it. They're not a bad set of headphones if you're willing to shell out the cash for it.
