The Bottom Line:
If you like cool graphics and a deep story, then buy the game. But if you already own a PC, then buy BG or BGII instead.
The graphics and story are impressive, but it's not like the D&D style. The D&D style was designed for multiple characters/players. This game only has one, and that's where major changes come in. The concept has been changed, and it therefore lacks most of the D&D style.
The playstyle gets repetitive over time - (1) you stay in a town, (2) you get quests from the people, (3) then you enter a place full of monsters, (4)you try to complete your quest while completing others' quests on the way, (5) then you kill the boss monster, (6) and you travel to another town, repeat step (1).
The game also needs some teaks and changes. The gauntlet in the thieves' guild's hideout is too easy. After getting bored, I was trying something new. I was jumping around naked in the gauntlet, without any weapons or armor. I only used 6 potions and I got to the boss!
There are also a couple of bugs in the game I've noticed. In the snowy mountains in the second part where you have to find materials to light the tower, I found one of the materials before going to the tower. It said I needed two materials. So I got the other one, and it said I only needed one more. But I already have that ONE! And I can't get any more! So I had to start that part all over again.
