Continuing it's Baldur's Gate sequel, Dark Isle has created Baldur's Gate for the Playstation 2. The main difference in this game as opposed to other Baldur's Gate games is that instead of the lofty roleplaying game it was on the computer it has been transformed more into a Golden Axe or Gauntlet type game. This is not bad however as they have still created probably the greatest roleplaying experience to date for consoles. The storyline draws you in, i played it nonstop for over 24 hours, thats how drawn in i was. They use the same great engine which was used in the computer series, along with similar graphics. Even though users are only using a gamepad in this version however, gameplay is just as good as computer users might remember. Black Isle did not just convert an old game to the console however; it's an entirely new game. In this version you get the chance to play one of three different characters, each which offers different special abilities to go along with it's class. You can play with a friend or alone, both aspects of the game are equally fun as you are pulled into the roleplaying experience by the story, and visually stunning effects. The puzzles and quests are stimulating and give you a feeling of having made progress when you do them.

Consistent with Dungeons and Dragons games this game offers a huge variety in both monsters and spells; this gives the game a nice touch where you have many options in combat. The variety for items is equally impressive as there easily over a hundred unique items for players to find.
