Bag Balm is the Bomb!
Pros
It duly serves its purpose in keeping the udders soft.
Cons
Would like it better if didn't have an odor, and reminds me of vaseline.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Does what it claims to do
A few months back I stood in the isle at the store debating on weather to get the Bag Balm or Udder Butter. I choose the Vermont's brand.
I have been using it since November of last year and have no complaints, and neither does Maggie my 7 year old Jersey who I acquired about the same time.
Milking twice a day can take its toll on one of the most sensitive parts of a cow's body. I apply it liberally twice a day and thankfully she has smoother skin than me. It kind of reminds me of Vaseline.
I have issue with perfumes and when I first opened it up to use I was not too happy with the peppermint smell to it. Maggie didn't have a problem with it, but I did and when I came in to strain the milk, I immediately tried to wash it off and get the smell off of my hands. It seemed like I couldn't get it off.
Like I said I use it every day on her, but don't really use it on myself. What does get on me is immediatly washed off when cleaning my milking supplies, and my only container of it is in the barn.
Maggie would recommend this product as it does what it supposed to, and she doesn't mind the smell.
