The Bottom Line:
Durable smoothie maker, for a good price
If you like smoothies, and you want a decent priced machine to do the job, the Smoothie Elite SE2000 is the kitchen appliance for you.
My fiancee and myself picked up the SE2000 after we burned out the motor in our standard blender trying to chop ice for smoothies.
The blender has a special ice-chopping blade, which cuts through full-sized ice cubes like butter. The 500 Watts of power drive the blades, which is what makes it so powerful. This consequently makes the machine loud...but then again, you're chopping ice!
There are only two speed settings, smooth & mix/pour. Personally, I never used more than 1 or 2 settings on a standard blender anyway, so I do not notice the difference.
Another nice addition to the product is the built-in spout added for dispensing smoothie without removing the cover of the blender. Handy most of the time, but useless with real thick smoothies.
Also worth mentioning is the stirring stick that fits through a built-in hole in the lid. The stick allows you to stir your smoothie while blending.
The power cord is around 3 feet long.
Price was more than reasonable at $40. For about the same price we could have picked up a regular blender that didn't have as much power.
The biggest disadvantage is that the unit is not dishwasher safe. This makes for some difficult cleaning.
All in all, it was a very nice purchase. The price was right, and the machine works well as a blender and a smoothie maker. Powerful and durable.
