The Bottom Line:
Something I'd recommend but shop around for prices.
My youngest had long outgrown the booster seat with straps on it, but she was still having a problem reaching the table. So, I looked in my One Step Ahead catalog and found the Baby Smart Cooshee Booster seat for $31. I did some shopping around, and eventually found a pink one for $29. They come in several other colors as well, the catalog had green and orange, but there is a blue one available as well.
Anyway, this little seat is sort of a crescent shape and has a little ribbing on the seat part, then it has a small back that comes up about 2 inches. They offer a higher back one as well that comes up a little higher in the back. The seat is made of foam, and it's pretty dense. It would take a whole lot to puncture through it, I mean if your kid bit into it (hey it could happen) it would leave teeth marks but they wouldn't be able to bite off a chunk. But a sharp pair of scissors could do this some harm. It's pretty wide as far as size too, I'd estimate it to be about 10 inches across down in the seat part, so bigger kids would have no problem sitting in this comfortably.
On the bottom of the seat, there are these large circular indentations all along the bottom. Once you put this in a seat- that is a hard seat not anything with fabric covering, and the kid sits down, then the seat will suction to the chair. No joke it will- and it takes an adult a good tug to get it off the chair. But the seat does stick to the chair and there's no shifting while seated.
My booster also came with a little carrying case, which is great if you travel, but I don't ever use it. As far as cleanup is concerned, well a dishrag or baby wipe is all you'll need to wipe it clean. I know with our old booster I'd have to put it in the shower to get every crumb out of the nooks and crannies, but with this there's no holes for food to fall in, which is just great for me.
As for comfort, I haven't heard any complaints, and I will say that this is pretty plush and comfy. Overall it's something I'd recommend, but do shop around as far as pricing goes because it's a little expensive for what it is.
