The Bottom Line:
If you are in the market for a Bjorn carrier, this is the one to get!
This is by far my favorite Bjorn Carrier. I have gone through so many because I keep telling my husband that I need on in the house, in the car, in the diaper bag, etc. My son loved to be carried and this was by far the best carrier I have used. I have one of these and the original and the air type. I really like the active because of the extra back support, it makes a HUGE difference. When your child is smaller it doesn't really matter, so for instance I am due with another one in July so since he will be small during the summer months the air one will probably work best to keep up both cooler and not hurt my back, but by 3 months I am guessing I will have to depend on my Active carrier because that is most comfortable for me and I feel most secure as your baby gets bigger. You do have to make sure it is adjusted correctly in the back and around the waist so that you get the most comfortable position. I could walk around for hours at the zoo and festivals with my 20lb son comfortably in this carrier. I am not sure I could say that if I was wearing the original because there is a lot more weight on your shoulders with the original carrier. I also feel like the active carrier helps me keep my posture better. I really have to say if you need a carrier when your baby is bigger this is the one to buy.
A few informational things to add. This is made out of a thick fabric and has a lot of padding. It will fade if you wash it too much, to prevent this from happening you can always buy bjorn bibs that are used on the carrier near where the babies mouth and chin would hit. This is a good idea to have to keep your bjorn looking new because babies do like to chew on the front sometimes and they definitely drool on it.
As far as putting this on, it is very simple. You put the back straps on just as you would a backpack. You will need some extra help to get your baby in when you first start using it, but after a month or so you can probably manage on your own. The baby just gets slipped in the front after it is secure to you and then you just have to snap in the baby with two top snaps. Very easy and the carrier holds up to 26lbs, but by that point even with the extra support it may be time to move to a different carrier.
