Nice diaper pail...initially

Pros Easy to use, use your kitchen trash bags, not special liners. Easy to clean. Slim.
Cons Does not contain the smell. Just all around a bad diaper pail.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Waste of money. It does not contain the smell as well as it should.
Nice features such as no need for liners, but not nice enough to warrant buying it.
We bought the diaper champ after having disposed of our "other" name brand diaper pail. For the first week we were thoroughly impressed with the fact of how well it contained the smelly poopie diaper odor, and how easy it was to use it.

We were also impressed how there was no need to buy separate liners as opposed to our "other" diaper pail, a simple kitchen trash bag does the job. After the first week the smells started to seep through. It has a handy little compartment at the top of the pail where you put the diaper in; you pull the handle up and over, then the diaper gets pushed into the pail, leaving the compartment open for the next time you change a diaper. Oh, by the way I wouldn't recommend breathing in once you pull the handle up or down, because you will release the awful stench in your face.

The smell still comes through despite washing it properly and putting baking soda on the bottom. It is easy to clean though. The other issue I don't like besides its poor ability of containing the odors, is that the bag does tend to get overly full at times, so literally making it hard to pull the bag out with all the diapers in it, as it is a slim design. The smell comes out so badly that my son's nursery, our hallway and other bedrooms stink.

We scrub it twice a week with bleach and, as I mentioned before sprinkle baking soda on the bottom, and we still get the stench. Also the ease-of-use can be a con, because my 18 month old son has figured out how to use it and sticks everything from my keys, his toys, to his pacifiers in it; and believe me it is a daunting and grim task to fish the stuff out.

Bottom line is that you will end up smelling the mother of all diaper pail smells once you take the bag out (obviously), so any smells you have been trying to contain will still come through, and will make up for the extra smell that did not happen seep through once you pull the bag out or each time you turn the handle.

Now I just wrap the stinky diapers in separate small plastic baggies and dump the stinky diaper in our regular outside trash bin...at-least we don't have the neighborhood stray cats coming near our trash bins ;oP
