The Baby Trend Flex-Loc infant car seat carrier is durable and versatile.
I chose this infant carrier largely because it was highly-rated in Consumer Reports, but there are other benefits as well. Being able to buy and install multiple detachable bases in different vehicles is a nice convenience. I also like the compatible stroller.
This carrier has a five-point harness, sun shade, removable padding for newborns, and safety foam. However, these features are available on most other brands of carriers also. The Baby Trend Flex-Loc carrier supports infants up to 28.5" in length allowing me to use it, at least in theory, until she was nine months old. Securing and removing baby was not too difficult and she seemed to be comfortable in it. Height and belt tension adjustments were easy to make.
The biggest drawback to this carrier is the weight. I believe it weighs a couple of pounds more than other carriers. While this is not a problem with newborns, it causes significant back strain when toting larger babies. Because of that, I stopped using it more than a month before she outgrew it. Due to the shape of all infant carriers, there is no back-friendly way to carry them, and every extra pound makes it that much worse. I also found that the padding of this car seat didn't breath well and sometimes left baby sweaty.
