Eclipse -- LX -- is the BEST of the bunch!

byjuliasew Oct 13, 2007

Pros DC Motor with Cogged Drive Belt & Micro Safety Switches
Cons Wish presser foot lifted higher on all Eclipses, & lever was on FRONT of machine!!!
Recommended it? Yes

All of the Eclipse Sergers are great, but if you want heavy duty power, then the LX is a must.

Read carefully the product descriptions on the Baby Lock site. The difference between the LX and the others is these things:

*"LCD Teaching Screen" - Just a setting selection aid... Read full review »

I was blessed to buy my Babylock Eclipse DX for $365 on Ebay.  Sure, I had to pay shipping from Paris, France, which added on another $130 for shipping and insurance, but that was only $495 for an ECLIPSE DX!  I had to buy a up/down power converter because it is the European motor for 220... Anyone can serge with this Baby!

Pros Amazingly easy to thread and sews beautifully from rolled hem to overlock to flatlock.
Cons Nothing of note.
Recommended it? Yes

I am new to serging but I carefully researched sergers before settling on the Eclipse. The jet-air threading is fabulous, it takes absolutely no time to thread the machine. With the jet-air threading, you just feed a bit of the looper thread into the jet-air opening, pump the jet-air handle, and... Read full review »

Cons in med cost range

Howdy,

I have owned 4 sergers in my day. My Eclipse will be it until the sergers start whistling while they sew. I have a visual disability and could not thread my serger at all. I could not see the thread while passing it through the stages of threading the loopers. The jet air threading... Read full review »

Pros The jet-air threading and ease of use. A perfect stitch every time.
Cons The MSRP is a shock, but you can deal!

I recently retired my Baby Lock BL4-436DF for an Eclipse. I keep asking myself why did I wait so long? What a joy to use. I chose the Eclipse for the jet-air threading, but still wanted to have control of tension settings. It's a marriage made in heaven.

I mostly use sergers for... Read full review »

6 months ago I didn't even realize I needed a serger. Now that I have my Eclipse, I can't imagine not having one. I have always been intimidated just looking at them, but once I saw how EASY this one is to thread, with the air-threading system and needle threaders, I was sold. I took it home and... I already had a much loved Singer serger when I got this one with the embroidery machine I had purchased..it was the deal of the season and it was FREE!! At first, I had a very big Love/Hate relationship with this
serger. I hated it more than I loved it, I am afraid.

Then, something... Read full review »

Baby Lock this deal up!

Pros Smooth, easy to thread, durable
Cons Heavy, accessories sold separately

I've owned 3 serger machines. Baby lock eclipse is the smoothest ride. It sews so softly that it puts my sewing machine to shame.

This serger has a self threading mechanism. Push a couple of buttons and your serger is threaded. This is perfect if you have trouble with the many needles and... Read full review »
