Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  The Baby Bjorn Air Baby Carrier is a fantastic product that will keep both parent and baby very happy.
I received the Baby Bjorn Carrier Air from my brother and sister-in-law and it has been one of my favorite baby products to date.

The Product
The Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier Air is one of the baby carriers in the Baby Bjorn line.  It is available at stores such as Babies R Us and Amazon.com and retails for between $100 - $120.

Baby Bjorn States
"Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier Air is made from an airy 3D mesh that efficiently carries away heat and moisture. It is soft and flexible and shapes itself gently to the baby’s body.  The baby carrier provides excellent support for your little child’s back and head, and makes sure that baby's legs and arms are in a physiologically correct position. When your child is a little older, the neck-rest can be folded down so that the child can be carried facing forwards and look around."

My Experience
I was excited to receive the Baby Bjorn Carrier Air because my arms were getting tired holding Baby Grace.

The Baby Bjorn looks a bit intimidating at first but after a little practice, it is quite easy to use.  I did try it first with Baby Grace shortly after she was born when she weighed enough (more than 8lbs).  However, Baby Grace was definitely not a fan of the carrier and would scream and cry until she was taken out.  After several attempts, I left the Baby Bjorn in the baby pile and did not touch it for several months.

I decided to take it out to use again once Baby Grace had better head control.  I put her in forward facing (facing the outside world) and she loved it.  She would kick her legs and flail her arms in excitement.  I have been using the Baby Bjorn almost every day for about three months now.

What are the benefits of using the Baby Bjorn?  Free hands!!  Oh my goodness, having free hands is such a blessing.  I can shop, tidy the apartment up, hang up laundry, etc!!  I love using the Baby Bjorn to have free hands!  The Baby Bjorn also saves my arms from getting too tired from carrier Baby Grace.  After some practice, it's also easy to put the baby into the carrier on my own.  Initially it was a two-person process, but now I can do it by myself by holding her and doing the connections on each side.  The air carrier style of the Baby Bjorn is nice in that its mesh material keeps the baby cooler and allows for better heat ventilation.  Another added benefit of the Baby Bjorn is that Baby Grace loves to ride in it, which translates to less fussiness!  When we are shopping, she gets fussy after a little while in her stroller but we have noticed that if we put her in the Baby Bjorn, she can go very long stretches of time without being fussy.

What are the drawbacks of the carrier?  Learning how to use it initially.  I made sure to read through all the instructions before attempting to put Baby Grace in the carrier.  I didn't want her to slip through and fall.  Thankfully the directions are very clear and the connections on the Baby Bjorn are color coded and labeled L and R so it's easy to snap  it all in place.  Also, it is easy to remember that the Baby Bjorn label goes on the left side when wearing the straps.  Now that Baby Grace is about 18 lbs, my upper back is starting to hurt a bit when using the Baby Bjorn with her.  I do try to remind myself to stand upright but fatigue does set in after about half an hour of use.  Using the Baby Bjorn for long stretches of time can be tiring and fatigue can set in on the back muscles.

The Baby Bjorn is compact enough in that it can be stuffed into the Timbuk2 Cargo Tote without taking up much space.  It washes very easily in the washer and I hang it up to dry.  It's quick to dry too.  I have washed the front section (not the straps) of the Baby Bjorn several times because Baby Grace likes to chew on the front part where her mouth can reach.

The Baby Bjorn Air Baby Carrier is one of my favorite baby products.  It allows Baby Grace to see the world while giving me hands free to do stuff around the apartment.  The only thing is that as she gets heavier, my upper back starts to feel a bit sore after having her in the carrier for long stretches.

Overall Thoughts
The Baby Bjorn Air Baby Carrier is a fantastic product that will keep both parent and baby very happy.

Thanks for reading.
