Bosch BSG71370 Bagged Canister Vacuum

When my Bosch vacuum arrived from Costco, the shipping carton was squashed on both ends. The carton wasn't sturdy enough to handle the rigors of shipping and only had a few folded corrugated cardboard corners inside for cushioning. Upon removing the vacuum cleaner from the box I noticed the bumper guard was broken, which probably happened because it was in direct contact with the box and not protected by cushioning. After unpacking the telescopic wand, I found several broken plastic parts for the button that keeps the wand extended. Since the wand itself was well wrapped, and not in contact with the box, I assume the button was broken before the vacuum cleaner left the factory.

In spite of the damage, I decided to see how well the vacuum functioned before returning it. The telescopic wand wouldn't stay extended because of the broken button, but I was impressed with how well the vacuum performed on our hardwood floors.

Ultimately I decided this vacuum cleaner is not the one for me. The plastic button that holds the telescopic wand extended (or unextended) is cheaply made and most likely will fail soon after the warranty expires, if not before.
