1997 BMW 8 Series

The 1997 8 Series is available in two models - 840Ci and 850Ci coupes. The 840Ci is equipped with a 4.4-liter, 32 valve V-8 engine and BMWs Adaptive Transmission with Steptronic Control. The 850Ci upgrades the 840Ci with a 5.4-liter V-12 engine. Standard features on the 840Ci include a power sunroof, central locking and automatic climate control. The 850Ci offers Servotronic variable assist power steering, which reacts according to road speed rather then engine speed. The 850Ci also has Electronic Damping Control that adjusts shock absorber settings to any change in road, load or driving condition and Dynamic Stability Control which helps to stabilize the car during understeer and oversteer situations.

Pros Style, ahead of it's time features, fit and finish.
Cons weight, high initial price.

I purchased my 840 new in 1997. It was one of the last orders to be filled by BMW. Styling, fit and finish, attention to detail, engineering are classic German.
