The Bottom Line:
A great brush for cleaning Avent bottles.
My daughter drinks one to two bottles a day. She definitely gets one at night, and she usually drinks it in our bed. When the bottle is finished, I usually place it on my nightstand before burping the baby and spending some time with her before I take her up to her room to go to bed. Sometimes the bottles will sit on the nightstand for a day or so until I remember to rinse them out. Yuck!
We use Avent bottles and I put them in the Avent Steam Sterilizer to clean them. But before they go into the sterilizer, they need to be cleaned out. Sometimes, it can be tough to clean the inside of the bottle because the formula sticks to the inside.
I've used bottle brushes before- I think we had the Especially for Babies brand from Babies R Us. This bottle was bristly and wiry like a toilet brush and its performance was adequate at best.
I often wander into the baby aisle at the grocery store. I don't usually need anything from there, but I still wander and browse. On one trip, I stumbled across the Avent brand bottle brush. This seemed sturdier than the BRU brush.
I've had this brush for about a month, and I love it. The brush has a sturdy plastic handle. One end has the bristles- they are arranged in clusters like a toothbrush head. The handle is slightly curved.
I use this brush with Avent bottles, so I can't comment on how this brush works with other bottles. However, this brush works very well with the Avent bottles and I am able to get into all the nooks and curves of the bottles to get out any crusties.
The other end of the brush has a pointed bit with a ribbed corkscrew. This is intended to clean out the inside of the nipples. The other bottle bushes I purchased came with separate nipple cleaners. These did not work that well, and they were small and easily lost. I love that the nipple cleaner is built into the bottle brush.
There is even a hole towards the bottom of the handle so that you could hang this brush from a hook.... if you happen to have a hook in your kitchen. I don't have a hook in my kitchen, but now I want one.
This brush was at the grocery store for $4.99.
I highly recommend the Avent bottle brush. It works well at cleaning the Avent bottles and I especially love the built-in nipple cleaner. Cleaning out the bottles is much easier since I started using this brush and its sturdiness keeps it from breaking, which is a problem that we had with the other brand of brush that we used.
