Cons Occasional squeaking, pumps only one side, rare minor leaks.

Trying to choose a breast pump, like so many other baby products, is a very difficult decision.  No one wants to buy more than one, since even the inexpensive pumps are still around $30 - not bad for a single purchase, but not something you want to repeat.  There are many options, and choosing the... I'm a stay-home-mom and Avent Isis Breast Pump is the only breast pump I ever used. It worked great for me. First, it's very reasonable (~$45). Second, it works just wonderful!

Once you read the manual how to put it together, then you know how to fix it really fast. It's very easy! I read a... Read full review »

Pros Easy to use, comfortable, great price

I had a Gerber manual pump with my first daughter. While it wasn't top-notch, I felt it was meeting my needs as I rarely ever pumped milk since my daughter wouldn't take a bottle. We just recently had our second child, and I've decided to start donating breastmilk. I knew I would need a better pump... Read full review »

Pros Comfortable, easy to travel with, pumps efficiently
Cons Can take some getting used to
Recommended it? Yes

I got the Avent Isis pump when I was pregnant with my daughter. I was planning on returning to work part time and there was the possibility of not having an appropriate place to pump because of a small office and lack of private space. I felt that a manual pump was the best way to go.

Pros Easy to use and clean. Affordably priced.
Cons None!

When it comes to choosing a manual pump, this is the gold standard. It's the one that almost always recommended if you visit any sites that discuss or give advice on breastfeeding. I'd have to agree.

I bought this pump after my first son was born because the manual pump I received at the... Read full review »

Pros Comfortable to use, easy to clean.
Cons Long time to learn to use, long time to pump.
Recommended it? Yes

This breast pump definitely takes some time to learn to use, but after you learn to use it, it's really easy to use and clean and it's reasonably comfortable to use.

I purchased this pump intending to go back to work part time, but I never did. My sons never took to using a bottle (they... Read full review »

Great Breast Pump for Occasional Use

bycvcrowe Jan 8, 2008
9 Helpfuls 10 Helpfuls Was this review helpful? Comment
Pros Compact, Easy to Use, Comfortable, Quiet, Efficent at Expressing Milk
Cons Small Pieces Get Lost Easily, Time Consuming to Clean
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased one of these pumps for my first child, and purchased ANOTHER for my second. The reason for owning two was because it takes a while to hand wash, sterilize, and put back together the pieces of the pump. And with a new baby at home, there isn't exactly much free time for dishwashing.

Cons manual so hand could get tired

When I had my first daughter and I had no idea how difficult breastfeeding could be. The first few days were so hard I though that she would never stop crying and that I would always be attached to her. So I thought I would try a breastpump so that others could feed her as well. I bought an... Read full review »

Pros Easy to put together and use. I like how the bottles screw right onto it.
Cons Can be difficult to clean.
Recommended it? Yes

I used this pump for about 3 months until I gave up on pumping and just nursed exclusively instead. I was never able to get much when I pumped, but that was probably due to my own let down and not this pump. I found the pump to be very comfortable and it never hurt at all. Read full review »

Pros convenient fast efficient easy not bulky... should I keep going?
Cons dont forget the breastshield or it is a bit uncomfortable.

This pump was given to me as a gift with my fourth baby. Up till now I had used a Medela BreastEase for babies 1 and 2, and the Ameda Purely Yours for baby 3 and 4... well I don't remember the last time I used my electric pump, now I strictly use my Avent Isis hand pump. It is very simple to use... Read full review »

Avent Isis Manual Breast Pump

You can prepare for a successful breastfeeding experience with the Avent ISIS Breast Pump. ISIS is a manual pump clinically proven to be as effective as electric pumps, yet mothers rated the Avent ISIS easier and more convenient to use. ISIS is designed to work naturally, and is ideal for new mothers who are learning to breastfeed. ISIS is the only breast pump that has a patented Let-down Massage Cushion to stimulate the same gentle let-down as breastfeeding. This allows you to express milk more quickly, with no discomfort, even in the early stages of breastfeeding. Avent ISIS Breast Pump is the only pump that doesn't rely on suction alone to be effective. Instead, ISIS uses a gentle massage and vacuum system that works quickly and efficiently.
