The Bottom Line:
Every nursing mother needs one of these.
When it comes to choosing a manual pump, this is the gold standard. It's the one that almost always recommended if you visit any sites that discuss or give advice on breastfeeding. I'd have to agree.
I bought this pump after my first son was born because the manual pump I received at the hospital was difficult to use and not very comfortable. It came recommended from friends and the price was right. It became my best friend. Our first son had a very strong latch. I was ready to give up nursing altogether, but was able to extend our time nursing for another month with this pump.
It's easy to use. It's easy to clean. It does the job. And babies actually seem to take the milk from the Avent bottles, so you don't have to transfer the milk to another bottle for feeding time.
I used this pump to feed exclusively for about a month. Overall my supply did decline during that time. It's a manual pump, so it won't replace your baby and won't do the job of a electric pump. But for supplemental feedings or if you can't afford an electric, this is a wonderful choice.
